General Rules & Policies

An AMA sanctioned motorcycle club, Columbus, Indiana

Welcome to Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all riders, families, and fans, please review and follow the rules below. Failure to comply may result in removal from, or denial of entry to, the property.

General Rules

Riding at SLMC is a privilege, not a right. This is private property and you are being invited in as a guest. SLMC reserves the right to remove, or deny entrance, to any person for any reason, including behavior that is unsafe, unlawful, or disruptive.

  • No spectators are permitted inside bannered areas.
  • All pets must remain leashed at all times.
  • Anyone operating a vehicle must be wearing a helmet at all times, including children and anyone riding bicycles.
  • No vehicles of any kind on the concrete area in or around the club house.
  • No pit bikes, 4 wheelers, golf carts, etc. except for clearly identified SLMC staff using them for race operations.

No pit riding is allowed at SLMC: no play riding, no trail riding outside of the official race and competitors, no riding laps around the parking lot, and no practice sessions.

We have enjoyed having so many families come out for the Stacyc races, and we enjoy supporting the next generation of riders and racers. We know many kids enjoy playing around on Stacycs and other small e-bikes on and around the Stacyc course and we don't want to eliminate their ability to do so, so please as parents use good judgement and keep an eye on your kids:

  • Kids must wear helmets any time they are operating a bike, just like everyone else.
  • Kids are not to be roaming the parking lot; see "no pit riding".

Violation of any rule or policy may result in being asked to leave the premises.

Rider Instructions

  • Proper safety gear, as defined by the AMA, is required at all times while riding. This includes a full face helmet, shatterproof goggles, long sleeve jersey, chest and back protector (mandatory for all minors), motorcycle protective pants and motorcycle boots. See Section 2.2 of the current AMA Competition Rulebook for full current details as rules evolve over time.
  • SLMC does not provide insurance coverage of any kind for riders, spectators, or anyone on the property.
  • Competitors are responsible for securing their own insurance.
  • All riders are required to read, understand, and comply with the current AMA Competition Rulebook or the AMA Recreational Ride Rulebook as applicable to the event you are attending, as well as all SLMC rules and policies posted on our website and/or on the property.
  • No passing in the checks.
  • All riders must come to a complete stop in the checks.
  • Place the supplied race transponder and number on the designated area(s) of your helmet.

Course Inspection & Conduct

  • Participants may inspect the course only on foot or by bicycle.
  • Motorized or power-assisted vehicles are not permitted for course inspection.
  • Riders and race personnel must independently assess track conditions, obstacles, facilities, and all safety factors. Participation is at each individual's own risk.
  • Tampering with, altering, cutting, or marking the course in any manner is strictly prohibited.

Track Access & Safety

Motorcycle racing is inherently dangerous. For your safety:

  • Spectators and crew must remain off the track and maintain a safe distance at all times.
  • Never cross the track unless it is clearly safe to do so.
  • SLMC courses do not use barrier fencing; monitor your children closely.
  • Never turn your back to oncoming racers.
  • Remember: STAY OFF THE RACE TRACK.

Inclement Weather Policy

Events may be held regardless of inclement weather conditions. If unfavorable weather occurs, SLMC may adjust the race length, delay the event, alter the event schedule, or stop the program entirely. If delays or cancellations occur, SLMC will announce updates as soon as practical.

Camping

Primitive Camping is available at all events. This means water and electric are not available, so come prepared. We do have port-a-lets and flush toilets. Camp spots cannot be reserved in advance and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Gates open at noon on Saturday before the Sunday races. For full weekend events only, gates will open at 5 PM on Friday. Gate fee, when applicable, must be paid, you must be pre-registered for the event and all waivers signed before setting up.

Noise Curfew

Our Good Neighbor Quiet policy begins at 10:00 pm. Quiet hours in the camping areas are in effect until 6:00 a.m. No loud generators please. Be courteous to your fellow riders; they need their sleep too. Please note, activities may continue in the barn past 10 pm. The further you camp from the barn, the quieter it will be.

Campfires

Grills and small contained fires are permitted. Keep the fire in a contained unit such as a burn barrel, barbecue unit, hibachi or a small pit with rocks around it. Due to the large number of guests and the close proximity of the rigs, we cannot permit open non-contained campfires. In a drought situation, campfires may be restricted.

  • Never leave a campfire unattended.
  • Campfires must be fully extinguished when away from your campsite and before leaving.

Fire Extinguishers

All motor homes/camping vehicles and pit rigs should have fully functioning fire extinguishers readily available in the event of an emergency.

Alcohol Policy

If you choose to consume alcohol during your visit:

  • Please drink responsibly and be considerate of others.
  • No alcohol before riding. Save drinking until after you've parked your bike for the day. See the AMA Substance Abuse Policy.
  • SLMC reserves the right to remove or deny entrance to any person for any reason, including behavior that is unsafe, unlawful, or disruptive.
  • Law enforcement will be contacted if necessary to protect the safety of riders, fans, or property.

Pets

Pets are welcome under the following conditions:

  • Must remain on a short leash at all times.
  • Must not be left unattended, including inside vehicles.
  • Owners are responsible for pet waste cleanup.
  • Aggressive or unruly animals are not permitted and must be removed from the property if requested.

Your attention to these general rules and policies helps to preserve the right to race and helps to make this an enjoyable experience for all of us. Thank you.
